Neil neil is and indian buy who´s father puts a lot of pressure on. Before the spelling bee y ad been practicing something like 800 words a day!He also had a tutor that helped him study for the spelling bee whit german , french and other forgein languages that may appear on the spelling bee.Somehow the spelling bee is all he cares about , he feels that to win ,like if its a must! His dad puts a lot of pressure on him and I think that all that Neil really wants is to make his father proud of him and no disappoint him.I think that for Neil its really important to win because he really wants to make his father proud and not feel that he studied that much for nothing. Also because his grandfather payed a lot of money to many people in India to pray for Neil to win, so basically if he looses he will not only disappoint his dad but also his grandfather and many people in India that are praying from him to win.Last , I think that for Neil its very important to win because like to feel he finally was able to accomplish what he worked so hard for.

On one hand spelling bees are contests that put a big amount of pressure that shouldn't really be feeling that much pressure at that age. On the other hand spelling bees for some teenagers is their hobby and what the enjoy doing. Some teenagers prefer spending their times studying spelling words than doing sports and going to the movies , I think thats okay. We all have different hobbies and interests and since for many teenagers in the US.A spelling bee is one of them i think we should still keep on doing them. Still I do think that they should make the spelling bees a little less competitive and a bit less harsh on the kids , these are people that take it extremely seriously and put all their effort in it! Its so easy for them to loose , just 1 word wrong and their out!I do believe that we should still do spelling bees since their are some teenagers that really like it and like spending their time on it , but I do think that they should be lees harsh on them and put less pressure on them also , this way spelling Bee can continue and kids don't have to feel that devastated when they loose.

Ethos , Logos , Pathos!
Pathos: This advertisement shows a clear use of pathos in the picture itself. In the caption above where it says "For every pair of shoes purchased TOMS gives a pair to a child in need." Then bellow their is a picture of Tom with many children in need smiling. This makes you feel that by buying a pair of shoes you are doing something to help others in need and , to make the world a better place. Also by seeing the kids in the picture with their cute smiles it makes you feel like you can do something to help them and you should!
Ethos:This advertisement shows a clear use of ethos. It has 2 big pictures of celebrities and the product that they each use for hairstyling. Below the picture it says "Get Olivia's undone chignon" Then it explains how Olivia Palermo uses that hairstyling product , where you can get it and its cost. This makes you want to also use this product since a celebrity uses it!

The Veil
Respond to text personally
In this chapter , The Veil I connected a lot to the girls in the school that had to wear the veil. None of these girls actually liked wearing the veil , and they didn't feel it had a purpose and they didn't understand what the meaning it had.Even tough I never had to wear a veil I do connect to this from when I was a little girl and my mother would always dress me up. She would make me wear long uncomfortable fancy dresses and itchy sweaters!I obviously didn't like none of this and I didn't feel it made me look better or protected me from the cold! I simply hated them!Like the other girls in Iran , I had to was forced to wear things that I didn't like and that I found unnecessary , just like they with the veils.
Persepolis
Connect to a film
This chapter reminded me of the movie Dear John. A movie in which a guy had a very dangerous job and his friends and family were always worried about him when he was working.Just like Martyr's father that took pictures of the demonstration which was strictly forbidden , John, also had a risky and dangerous job , he worked in the U.S.A army. He often had to travel to dangerous places and fight in war! Many of his colleagues died daily in war and most of them were always hurt!John had a girlfriend who he wrote letter to weekly , sometimes he was in war in places like Iran Afaganihstan and other places far far away from the U.S.A. Many times he was so far away from home that the letter took a lot of time getting delivered and sometimes they would even get lost and never arrive. This made Johns girlfriend worried sick! Sometimes she would even start wondering if he was ok , if he had been shot in war or something. I connect it to Marji mom being also extremely worried when her husband didn't arrive and also the little girl wondering if her dad was dead.

I connected this chapter a lot to myself! When things start getting very bad in this chapter all of Marji's friends start leaving and moving to the United Staes in search of a better and safer life. I connect to this chapter a lot because when I was 5 years old , Colombia wasn't exactly the safest place , a lot of people were being kidnapped and killed there was a lot of mafia going on and things were getting worse and worse! People couldn't even go out safely to the streets! My parents decided that the best thing for my family to do was move to the united States until things got better in Colombia! While I was their me and my brothers were very sad , we missed our friends! Marji's friends in this chapter start moving to the united states in my case I was the one that moved! But I also missed my friends a lot! Just like in the book I moved to the U.S.A hoping for a better and safer life!
The Passport
Ask questions
This was a very sad chapter! Uncle Tather talked about how he missed his son and he wishes that he had left with him. This makes me wonder if it's a hint of something that's going to happen later on in the book that has to do with Marji , maybe she and her parents are going to have to go through something like that and are going to regret something later on.Also Uncle Tather later on has a third heart attack and just as they were about to save him he dies. And last they find , arrest and execute the communist that was hiding. All these events make me wonder , are things going to keep on getting worse and worse? Are they going to keep on executing people? When will somebody do something that helps stop all this!?
The Dowry
Answer previous questions
In this chapter my previous question were answered. Things didn't get better ,things got even worse the Iraquis had misses and launched them to Iran , one of them on the building next to Marji's.her neighbor friend dies and things didn't improve.she became a rebel! Also my question about Uncle Tather talking about when his son left and him regretting not leaving with him did have something to do with Marji's future! Later on Marji's parents decide to sed Marji to Austria for a better like but they don't go with her! They say that they will join her in 6 months but their are a lot of hints that it was a lie and they weren't. Just as Marji was leaving , she turned around to see her parents go from the airport and just as she did this she regretted it. This proves that my prediction about uncle Tather talking so much about his son did have something to do with Marji's future and her leaving and then regression something.at the end of the book they show Marji's dad carrying her mom, I didn't quiet understand that picture , was she dead!?! Or just very sad!? I really want to know!

My Opinion on the Articles.
After reading these articles I realized that their are a lot of places in the world where people cant express their thoughts without taking the risk of being severely hurt. This girl who is only 14 years old , living in a hard condition tried sharing her opinion on her blog about her disagreements as well as her agreements. Im not really sure if this girl knew the risk she was taking when she decided to start her blog , or if she knew but thought that it was more important to share her opinion and let the world know what she thought. It really impacted me how serious someone had to be about their beliefs and religion to have been capable to attempt murder to a 14 year old girl only because of her disagreements. When I read the second article about this girl I realized that maybe she did no the danger she was living in and the risks she was taking when she talks about how when she herd a man behind her say "Im going to kill you!"This shows that the girl was feeling fear in the inside and maybe even being threatened , but she had enough courage and valency to keep on sharing her opinion with the world and standing up for her self. What most impacted me from the entire article was the part about Courage , which explains how Malala Yousafzai was only 11 years old when she started writing her diary. I was very shocked by how a girl this young living under these circumstances could be so brave and so conscious of what was going on.It makes me think of how when I was 11 years old , I was plying with barbies and eating candy , while other people around the world are having to see such things in their daily lifes at the same time I am doing this! I find it sad that while Malala was writing undercover to the BBc of how scared she was and sharing her opinion about all these terrible things I at home though that the world was perfect! These articles make you realize that people all around the worlds have to face many different things and that sometimes we are so involved on making ourselves happy that we don't realize what others are having to go through.

Gilgamesh
Reading Blogs.
Tablets I-III:
In these first few pages I conected The book Gilgamesh to the movie Troy.In Troy all of the warriors feared the mighty Aquiles , more powerfull , strong and mighty than all . Like Gilgamesh , the strongest of all , the perfect.Later on in Gilgamesh comes Enkidu , who clames to be the strenght of wild men bron in the wilderness , and can not be withstood. In the movie troy later on , comes Hector a great warrior who clames to be the best of all and challenges Aquiles , like Enkidu in the book challenges Gilgamesh. I also conect this book a lot to Troy since in Troy they all believe and trust in the Gods , and in Gilgamesh the gods are also a big part of the story.
Tablets IV-V:
These Tablets made me wonder , is Enkidu really traducing Gilgameshes dreams corecctly , do they really mean those thongs?Or are they some sort of warnings from the gods , warning them to not do and do certain things do surivive. Im also wondering if Huwawa means it when he says that he will be Gilgameshs's servant and protector , or if he is just saying it so this way Gilgamesh wont kill him and Shamash will stop sending him storms and winds.
Tablets VI-VII:
After reading these last tablets my questions from the last one were answered. Basically I was right about Enkidu interpreting the dreams in a diffrent way. They werent exactly warnings from the gods to Gilgamesh , But they were some how warnings for Gilgamesh to give him a heads up of what was coming in the future. Sadly gilgamsh didnt know this soon enough. Now im wondering if Enkidu's dream about the Wild Bull atacking him and Gilgamesh getting scared and not helping Enkidu. Now im wondering if this dream is going to be like the one about the giant crack in the city and people dying , that did become true or if its just a regular dream and maybe it may be true but instead Gilgamesh does do something about it to help.
Tablets X-XI
I really enjoyed the last page of this tablet , its probably been my favorite part of all the book."How long does a building stand before it falls?" This was my favorite part , I find it very meaningful its basically asking , how much can something stand until it breaks down. I relate this to the tv show Pretty Little Liars , since in this show you notice that these girls can only take certain amount of problems until the breakdown. Even though I really enjoyed this part of the tablet I didn't understand it 100%. Im wondering how do all these quotes relate to the heroe Gilgamesh reo?
